Strange Fruit

Citroen Tree

  1. not as clever as I thought, because I was sure citroen was french for lemon but its aactually citron. Citroen is the dutch word for lemon. I don't know how this effects car sales though, it must sound strange saying I drive a lemon.

  2. Ah, you've met the 4x4 2CVers, then ;-)

    1. I didn't even know it was a 2cv, such is my ignorance of auto's. But I've now seen the Kate Humble land rover race on youtube and I see what you mean. I'm sure the citroen would also win a tree climbing competition.

  3. This made me smile. It is a very accurate portrait :) My dad used to have a convertible bright green one back in the 1970's, we used to love standing on the back seat and sticking our heads through the roof...ah those were the days before health and safety! I've just been in France and you still see a few. I'm also fond of a Renault 4....shame there isn't a fruit called rennoes

    1. they have an eccentric beauty all of their own and remind me, for some reason of Francis Picabia's early dada pictures. I still think they look cool now but back in the 70's they must have seemed very exotic. Unfortunately my dad had a white vauxhall viva, not a car guaranteed to enhance a teenage boys image . . . but reliable though!
