*special commiserations to Esther Montgomery, who also spotted 5 balls but was unlucky this time

  1. What better than, in failing to win a special flowerpot, one lands a special mention and the tantalising thought that, one day, maybe, with due concentration . . . there may, one day, with . . . be a Montgomery snail?!(In a pot.)

P.S. Glad to see a prize dandelion. While not exactly veg. . . . dandelions are undervaluedly beautiful.

  2. Yes, there may be a Montgomery snail (a so far undocumented species), the next competition could even be called 'spot the Montgomery snail'. There are quite a few possibilities for testing peoples allotment/gardening knowledge, but I think in future I will certainly avoid anything that can be confused with blobs of paint.

  3. Well done Allot of Veg. I'm now booking a long overdue trip to the opticians.

  4. Phil, you were very close, only one or two out and I think the eyesight problem was mine.

  5. Thank you very much for my prize flower pot.
I was very happy to see the frog-in-residence, he is now adorning the shed wall as a warning to any slugs thinking of causing trouble in the salad beds.

  7. yes Shaheen you were quite generous with your golf ball spotting, but I hope you will not be discouraged and try again in the next competition (not sure when that will be) hopefully with your nephew as well.
